About Gudjon Bergmann

Gudjon Bergmann was born on December 24, 1972, in Reykjavik, Iceland, where he spent the early years of his career in the music industry. After being introduced to yoga in 1996, he turned his life around and began focusing on helping others through teaching, training, and coaching. He offered smoking cessation courses, yoga classes, teacher training programs, stress management intensives, meditation workshops, and more.

Over the course of his career, Bergmann has written thirty books and trained thousands of people (in-person and online).

Gudjon (pronounced the opposite of Bad-John, but you can call him GB) believes in continuous education and improvement. He completed yoga teacher training programs with Yogi Shanti Desai (1997-1998) and Yogi Hari (2004), an interfaith minister training with All Faiths Seminary International in 2017—he has since been awarded for his work in the interfaith field—and to sharpen his skills before opening his coaching practice, Bergmann also completed a Life Coaching Certificate with The Academy of Modern Applied Psychology and a Mindfulness Teacher Certificate with the Coaching Studies Academy in 2022.

In addition to writing books and columns for Patheos and Medium, Bergmann writes music and nurtures his deep interest in humanism, spirituality, and the world's religions.

Gudjon married the love of his life, Johanna, in 2001. Together they have two children. The whole family moved from Iceland to Texas in 2010. Gudjon became a US Citizen in 2013 and currently lives in Kyle, just south of Austin in Texas.
